If I were "The Fiddler on the Roof," they would have to build a whole new roof!

So, I've been on the diet for more than two weeks now.

I have to admit, going into the second week, I felt pretty good. And for good reason. I had dropped my first 20 pounds or so.  Then reality started to kick in. Suddenly the weight loss slowed.

It was very, very discouraging. In fact, I had a minor meltdown. In my head, I knew it was merely the water weight but that didn't stop me from going nuts. And it's not like I was unaware it was going to happen.

I wasn't making it any easier on myself either. I was weighing every single day. Whether you can tell it yet or not, I am very impatient. I want this massive amount of "baggage" gone now and I don't want to wait. However, you and I know that will not be the case.

I've had close friends tell me the same thing but I try to be the superhero. I am always pushing myself in everything . That includes my diet and physical activities.

Not a good idea, at least in the case of exercising.

I decided this week, I would increase the intensity of my workout. Half of the way through, I began to struggle. Really struggle. I began to overheat and started to think "Wow. Maybe I should consider backing off of this a little bit.". Then i thought, "What!?! Not a chance! I am going to do this."

My body had other ideas. So did the treadmill.

It sped up and so did I.

I won't go into detail, but lets just say... the treadmill won.

And while it was savoring its victory, I was making and offering to the porcelain god.

After I recovered, I realized I had about two more minutes to go. I got back on and finished.

I don't know how many calories I burned that day, nor do I care. I got back on and finished "the race" if you will. The thing is, I really wanted to... for a couple of reasons.

1. While I realize others have done the same thing and have conquered bigger obstacles, it's a victory for me... even if it is a small one. The road to a healthier me will be paved with small, personally significant victories.

2. Like a famous Starfleet captain I know, I don't like to lose.

COMING UP NEXT WEEK: Will I break the 30 pound mark?
